Lier Library presented the Active Citizenship: Participation Game at the Democracy Conference 2026(Demokratikonferansen 2026) through a project stand that introduced the game to participants working across research, education, culture, public administration, and civil society. The conference offered a particularly relevant setting for the project, as it focused on major democratic challenges such as authoritarian shifts, attacks on science and knowledge institutions, polarisation, and the growing fragmentation of public discourse. In this context, the game stood out as a practical and creative tool to help libraries foster dialogue, empathy, and active citizenship in response to the pressures facing democratic life today.
